Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays, to everyone.

The SU Orange basketball team is now 10-0 to start the season. We are ranked 6 or 7 depending which poll you look at. We have beaten 2 top 10 teams already in the non-league portion of the schedule. The Big East starts Dec. 29th at Seton Hall.

I have put up my tree and my cat has found it. He keeps trying to knock the little beanie babies I put on it. He seems to be alittle bit more frisky and getting into things this winter...I wonder what's up with that??? He is still my little sweety...

Well, have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

See ya soon.

Just stopped to say hello

I just stopped to say Hello, and Happy Holidays!!! Well, Thanksgiving was uneventful. My Mom and I went to my sister Betsy and her husband, Bob's for a great turkey dinner. She got from, I think P&C already cooked and all she had to do is warm everything up. I think that is a great idea for people who don't want to hassle with getting the turkey just right.

Well, SU lost again to finish 4-8, which was alittle better than last year. I believe we lost at least 3 games in the 4th quarter, so we could have had a winning record. Well, I think that bodes well for next season. They can only get better, right?

I am awaiting the release of the Yankee package from Sports Illustrated that I have to pay for first, but, can't wait to get. I renewed my subscription to SI and as an incentive it included the book and DVD of the WS. It includes a leather bound book commemerating the WS win, and the DVD of it. There is also one coming out at the same time that is all about the 2009 season of the Yankees. Can't wait.

Also, found out my brother-in-law who has my name for Christmas has found one of my gifts that I asked for. It is the CD and Dvd of Paul McCartney's concert in NYC that I went to. I was going to get it for myself until my sister asked me what I wanted and said she would look into it! Needless, to say I can't wait for Christmas to get here!!

Well, see you soon.

Oh, btw, I joined Facebook. Don't know why, just thought it was the thing to do...

Yanks win the World Series

YAY!!!!!!!! The Yankees won the World Series!!! I am so tickled that they won, I am still kind of giggly over it.. They hadn't won one since 2000, and had lost the last 2 they had played in. They hadn't played in one since 2003 so it was just about the right time to win one....Will buy the DVD and book when they come out so I can relive all the great moments...

My new tv is just great! I have watched a few movies on it, but mostly it's been basically sports so far.

new tv

I have joined the new digital age! I bought a new HD tv and Blue-ray player...It is a 32" tv. I watched my first movie on it, even though it wasn't a blue-ray movie, it still looked great! It was Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" . I bought Disney's "Snow White" on DVD and Blueray in the same box. I'll watch it later today. The Yankee game on Fox was great last night.

Speaking of the Yankees, they are winning the ALCS over the LAAngels of Anaheim, 2 games to none. 2 more wins and they are in the World Series. GO YANKEES!!!

yankees do it again

The Yankees did it again!!! They won the American League East division title today... They beat the Boston Red Sox to do it. They also won 100 games. I am so proud of the way they went about the whole season. Never giving up, when they got behind and then took over 1st place and kept it. They have 1 week left to play and then the playoffs, which they will have home field for the whole of the playoffs.....GO YANKEES!!!!!!

SU won their 2nd game in a row yesterday, 41-24. They are playing much better, although they haven't really played all that badly so far this season. They are now 2-2, which was better than last year at this time... GO ORANGE!!!!

misc stuff

Hello, everyone, just alittle note that SU won their first football game of the season yesterday, on a field goal with no time left on the clock!! Got to watch it as it was on local tv and really enjoyed it.

The Yankees are in alittle bit of a funk, but they are still in 1st place. I'm not really worried, but it's getting too close for comfort. They just need to win one game to clinch a playoff spot.

My computer has been acting up lately, that is why I haven't been posting much. I'm trying very hard to figure out to fix it. I am in safe mode, so I can do some things on the computer but, not everything, like print....

See ya around, Gina

Hello, I'm back for a bit. My friend Tracy and I went to see Harry Potter with her daugher a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was great! Going to add that one to my collection when it comes out for sure... The trip to NYC is still being talked about at work and everyone had such a great time, that we might do something like that again! I wouldn't mind going back to NYC again to see what I missed and maybe catch a Yankee game at the new Stadium. Maybe next year for that.

Well, I went to my new doctor's today and she was quite personable. I have officially lost 30 lbs. in a year!! I am so psyched! She is scheduling me for some tests and we'll see how those go.
This is one of my favorite pictures of my kittycat sitting in my bedroom window looking out at whatever, one morning as I was getting ready for work. I just thought it was so cute so I took it. Not much to see at 6:30 in the morning...
I still can't believe I actually went to see Paul McCartney! It has been a whole month and yet it seemed like yesterday, and I can still remember how he looked and sounded! No pictures, but, I'll always have my memories!!!
See ya later, Gina

Yankees sweep

The Yankees swept the Red Sox over the weekend. All of the games were great from a Yankee fans perspective. We are now 6 1/2 games ahead of Boston. On the Yes network there is a show called, Centerstage. On this newest edition of it was, Bill Russell. He played in the NBA on the Boston Celtics. I followed the Celtics since I used to listen to them on the radio back in the early 70s. So, my favorite team in the NBA is them and when they won it all 2 years ago, I was thrilled. It had been since 1986 since they had won one. He was very open and talked about his career and life in Boston. I think he is the greatest player of the NBA! There are people out there who will beg to differ, I'm sure.

As I previously stated, I went to NYC in July and had a great time. Here are some pictures of my trip..

sorry it's been so long

I know it's been awhile since I wrote something. Been busy and hot! It's beens so hot and humid lately that it is hard to stay cool. I think by twittering has taken me from alot of things I do on the internet, but, I am slowing down on that too.

The Yankees won tonight and are still in 1st place over the Red Sox. They play them at home this weekend, 4 games. Should be a big weekend.

2 weeks ago, on July 18th I went to NYC with some friends and saw lots of stuff. Later on, I went and saw Paul McCartney in concert! He was fantastic! I had to leave early because I had to catch a bus home from there to Syracuse. But, what I saw was great! He can still sing! Great concert! Then I went on a 2 week vacation. I really didn't do much, just hung out and did some cleaning.

SU wins again!

Yeah, SU lacrosse team wins again in OT!!! We were down 3 goals with less than 3 minutes to go in regulation, and scored with 4.5 seconds to go to tie it!! It was a nailbiter and we played like our tails were on fire. It was SU's 11th NCAA lacrosse championship. I am so psyched that we actually pulled it out. Now, if only the football team played with half the passion we would win some games this year. Here's hoping....

SU lacrosse team

The SU lacrosse team is in the Final Four again!! We won the tourney last year and have won it 10 times in tourney history. We are going to be favored to win it again, I guess. We have played so well this year, I think it would be an upset if we didn't win it again.

They Yankees have been playing with a little more passion the last week or so. They have won as of today, 6 in a row. 3 of them, come from behind wins, in the last 3 days. Winning in the bottom of the 9th or in extra innings. Makes for some very exciting baseball!!

My sister, Betsy turns 60 today!! We had a surprise b'day party yesterday and my brother, Paul and his wife, Effie, came all the way from North Carolina to be here for that. It was big secret to the rest of the family that he was coming, and 2 of our cousins we hadn't seen in awhile were a secret for some of us. So, all in all it was a great time, great food and the cake was great, even though they misspelled her name as Besty!! It had orange and blue decorations on the frosting, as we are all SU fans...

Well, see ya.. Gina

not posting in awhile

Sorry, it's taken so long to post, but nothing has really happened lately.

The Yankees have been playing better lately and are now 9-6 and tied for second place. We play the Red Sox this weekend in Boston. I hope they just play good and don't get blown out!

The SU lacrosse team is playing this weekend in UMass and it should be a good game. Their last game is next weekend in the Dome playing Colgate. Then onto the tournament.

I am finally losing weight and it is staying off! I have lost 23 lbs. since last August and I am surprising myself with keeping it off. I keep telling people that I am not doing anything special except not eating alot and trying to exercise some. I need a new scale as I'm using the one we have at work. Mine is so old, it was my mother's old one...

Well, I just watched the 2nd Narnia movie and I loved it. The one with Prince Caspian in it. It was very exciting and had a lot of action in it. The kids grew up nicely and were very good in this one. Of course, there is Aslan, the lion, and all those people of Narnia. Great special effects in this one, too...

Well, Bye for now, Gina..

SU wins and loses

Well, SU lost and won over the weekend. The basketball team just couldn't get it started Friday night and lost rather badly. We picked the worst night to have one of our worst shooting nights of the year. We did not make a 3-point basket in the first half and only had 4 for the whole game. Oh, well, better luck next year.

As for the SU lacrosse team they didn't particularly play all that great either, though they did come from behind to win, 14-13... They were behind by 6 goals in the 3 qrtr, and started their comeback in the later minutes of the 4th qrtr. I turned the tv to another show and didn't actually see the comeback, but did see them win. I almost freaked out when I saw that they came back to win and on the road no less!!

Well, on to the rest of the lacrosse season, then.

At least I have baseball to look forward to in the next week or two. New Yankee Stadium opens on April 16th.. Can't wait!!

Bye, Gina

WOW!! GO SU!!

Oh, my goodness, SU played some great basketball last week and almost won the Big East Tourn. to boot. They played a 6ot game on Thursday, and won to go the semi-final and then the final. I went to bed at the beginning of the overtimes, because if I didn't I would never have gotten up to go to work the following morning. I did get to watch it on ESPNU the next afternoon when I got home from work. And, believe me, I watched like I would if it was live. I yelled and got pissy and couldn't believe what I missed!! We lost, mostly because we just couldn't do it in the later half of the 2nd half. We ran out of juice, you could say. But, all in all it was great tournament. Now, it's on to the NCAA tournament!
<:AtomicElement>
<:AtomicElement>The SU lacrosse team beat JohnsHopkins at home to go 4-1. THAT was a good game too..
<:AtomicElement>
<:AtomicElement>Well, I will check back in later when SU starts the tournament with updates on how we do...
<:AtomicElement>
<:AtomicElement>Until then, Bye.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Hello, I know it's been awhile since I was here last and let me tell you, not much has really happened. I have been working, of course, and watching basketball. SU won 20 games again this year, let's hope they make the "Big Show" after not going 2 years in a row. They will get a bye in the Big East Tourn. next week with a seeding of 6th in the league. Not bad, considering we were not predicted to finish that high!

The World Baseball Classic started this week and it should be good. The USA team beat Canada today and will play again tomorrow in what is called a double elimanation round. If they win they go on to the next round. Derek Jeter is the only Yankee on the US squad, this year. Several other Yankee players are on different teams.

The weather is getting better, as it should when March comes around. It is in the 40's now with the high of about 48 tomorrow. It was 58 yesterday. Nice!!

My sister's and I are going to have lunch this weekend with our Mom for our monthly lunch. Should be fun as usual, when we get together. We'll see if my niece, Krissy, is going to join us or not. She did last month and she looked good and was doing well in her classes at Onondaga Community College here in Syracuse.. She wants to be a teacher or go into day care. She likes working with kids. She dyed her hair black from strawberry blonde, because she kept getting picked on for her light hair and dark eyebrows. Either way she looks very pretty. The picture of her is from Christmas last year.
GO SU!!! Good luck in the tournament next week!!!
Bye for now..

SU beats G'town

SU beat Georgetown on Sat. in OT! It was a very nervewracking game, but we played very well in the OT session. It was a very exciting game as well. Lots of scoring and flashy plays.

We also played our first Lacrosse game of the season. We played Providence and beat them pretty badly, 24-3? I'm not really sure what the score was. But, it was really no contest. SU is the defending National Champ, so we are defending our title this year. I hope we play well enough to go the tournament this year as well.

The weather has quieted down in the last couple of weeks. No snow after we got pounded with 16 inches in 2 days. It's been in the high 20's to low 30's all week. No snow in sight for a few more days at least.

Well, the stimulus got passed, so we wait to see what we will receive from it. I get a raise at the end of the month. So, that helps my money situation, also, I still have to do my taxes.
Anyone else still have to do them..

Well, see ya later.

Snow again

We have had more snow again. But, the really bad thing is that it is SO cold! It is in the teen's and the windchill is minus 0..

Maybe this picture will help warm me up!
Isn't he just so sexy!!! I love this pic of him as Hercules. He still looks the same bodywise, but just alittle older..
I'm going to go put a Hercules dvd in. See ya later.

mix up

I made a mistake about the NFL playoffs. It was supposed to be Arizona and Philadelphia for the NFC and Baltimore and Pitt for the AFC. Well, we now know who is in the SB Feb 1st. It is Arizona and Pittsburgh. I would love to see Arizona win it because they are going to be probably the biggest underdog ever!! They have never won one and Pitt is going for their 1st in quite a long time...

SU and other things

WOW, SU beat Notre Dame today by 19 pts! It was a close game until the end when they pulled away to win it. We played very well overall and there was over 30,000 fans in the Carrier Dome for it...17-2, not bad..

ShiverIt has been so cold lately that you would think we were in Alaska or the far reaches of Canada!! It has been between 4 and 14 degrees the last 4-5 days. It has been cold waiting for the bus for work. At least my heat has been going ok, the pilot light on the gas heater tends to go out once and a while.

Well, the Giants lost last weekend and to tell the truth didn't play all that great. They picked the worst weekend to play there worst game of the season. Oh, well, there's always next year!
It will be Pitt-SanDiego for the AFC and Balt-Phila for the NFC. I hope it's Pitt-Phil in the SB, because I like Pitt from years ago and Phila because of Donovan McNabb from his SU playing days...

Kevin Sorbo's been busy making movies lately and being at Sundance this past weekend for the film festival there. I think at least 2 of his movies are headed for the big screen.

It is less than 90 days before the new Yankee Stadium opens!!! Can't wait! I want to go to a game this year but don't think I'll make it. The games will all probably be sold out!

So the new year begns...

Orange Blue Just thought I would liven up my blog with some smileys. Flower Christmas Lights I think this last one is kind of cute...

Now, to more serious stuff, like the fact that SU won again tonight down in South Florida! We are now 14-1!! It was a really good game that came down to them missing a few shots at the end.

The holidays were great and the weather is back to normal. The snow we got before Christmas was gone by Christmas Day, but, it snowed again the following weekend and it was freezing cold and snowing on New Years Day. I think we got about 2 feet of snow in the last 2-3 weeks.

My team leader at work took the decorations down today and I was kind of shocked, but she said that she couldn't wait for it come down. She was in a hurry to get the new year started and she didn't want the decorations to get in the way, I guess...The area where I am, still has them up until I say to take them down, since it's my work area. I like to have them up longer and it still feels like the holidays. Besides, we didn't put very much in the way of decorations.

Well, until next time, Have a great weekend!

See ya later, Gina
