all-star game

WOW, the All-star game at Yankee Stadium, went 15 innings and lasted 4hr50mins... I had to go to bed after the 10th inning.(11:30pm). It was scoreless for awhile and then the AL scored 1st and then the NL went ahead and we scored to tie and that's how it stayed until the AL won it. The 3 Yankee players that went didn't do so hot. But, Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 1 1/2 innings and helped keep it like that for all of the extra innings. Now, the AL has the home-field advantage for the World Series.

The best part of it all was the pre-game ceremonies when all of the Hall of Famers came out and were introduced. It was the biggest congregation of HoF outside of Cooperstown. It was cool!!!

Sad day for Yankee fans

A long-time Yankee player and announcer died today by the name of Bobby Murcer. He was a very well loved player and an ever greater person. He suffered a brain tumor in Dec of 2006. In fact, the day before Christmas, he found out. He had an operation 6 days later and spent the next 6 mos getting treated for it so he could come back to the Yankee booth, which he did in late May in Texas. He looked good. He so wanted to make to Yankee stadium for opening day, but just couldn't make it. He had been in and out of the booth since then, as he worked around his treatments. The Yankees had just beaten Toronto and were in the post-game when it was announced that he had died.

The Yankees host the All-Star game on Tuesday, and I'm sure there will be a tribute to him. He was a 5-time All-Star.

I grew up listening to him on the tv with all of the announcers he was with. I really liked to hear his voice, it was so mellow and so Oklahoman. I hate to say this, but I cried like a baby when I heard of his death. I am still a little in shock and very saddened by his passing.

Rest in peace, Mr. Murcer. You will be missed...

yankee game

I went to see the Yankees play at Yankee stadium on Wednesday and it was great!!! We won in extra innings, 2-1 and it was a very well played game. The new stadium that they are building is huge!! We went by it to get to the parking lot about 10 blocks from the stadium. Even though it was 10 blocks, they are short in NY as opposed to the avenues which are really long. When we left the ballpark to come home, it had started to sprinkle and by the time we got on the bus, it was raining pretty hard. After about 10 minutes on the bus, it was like someone had turned on the water faucet full blast. It thundered and lightninged for a few minutes, and downpoured. I was up at 5o'clock am and didn't get home till 11:30pm. Long day!!

ny trip

Well, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!! The weather was great for our picnic, and the food was just as great!!!

I am going to NY to see the Yankees play tomorrow at 6o'clock in the morning by bus!!! I hope it doesn't rain. I can't wait, because this is the last year for this stadium, and every game is memory for the fans. I went to a game about 3 years ago and we won. Jason Giambi hit 2 homeruns. Well, more on this when I get back home.

See ya.
