MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I know, I'm a little late, but like most people I was busy on Thursday celebrating! I had a great Christmas and of course, great food. We celebrated at my Mom's and everyone brought something to eat with the ham my Mom made. I got some much needed good work pants and some cool t-shirts. I also got a really cute koala stuffed animal. One of the t-shirts of my favorite football team, the NY Giants, when they won the SuperBowl this year. The other one is a tie-dye t-shirt with the Syracuse University emblem on it. It looks really cool. Everyone got some really cool gifts, but, I can't remember them!

It has started to warm up again, and almost all of the snow that we got last week is gone! It was in the 40's today. At least it was a white Christmas...

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year.

Blackie pics

I thought I would share some pics of my kitty, Blackie. He is so cute and he is all black except for a little white area on his tummy... He is eight months old and is getting bigger by the minute. He loves laying on my left shoulder when I'm sitting on the couch. Sometimes we both fall asleep like that and get up all stiff.

Big Snow!!!

We got some big snow today!! Yipee!! I mean that in a less than happy way... Yes, we got out predicted snowfall today and it came before they said it would! Almost all of the local schools were either cancelled or got out early before it would have hit us. I only got home about 15 minutes later than I normally do. I take the bus to work and it ran rather smoothly today despite the snow.

Well, it was inevitable, but SU finally lost a game. It was on a buzzer beater, right as time expired the player for Cleveland State, shot the ball from past midcourt and it went in! We had just tied the score with about 2 seconds left, so they really had no time to set up a play, except what did happen. Oh, well, we came back 2 days later and beat Canisius by 20 pts. Go figure!!

Christmas is coming up of course, and we as a family celebrate it at my Mother's. We do it on Christmas eve and then she and I go to midnight mass. I've got my presents all I have to do is wrap them. I finally put my tree up and it looks so cute. Now, all I have to do is keep the cat from knocking it over... He goes up to and sniffs at it, and tries to play with some of the balls I have on it, and then just walks away. He did scare me, though, when he almost did knock it over. Every night I go to bed thinking I'm going to find it toppled over when I wake up.

Well, have a great holiday and a Happy New Year!!

See ya...

SU is undefeated!

SU is undefeated and ranked no. 16 in one of the polls.... They have been playing very well all season, and have a knack for coming from behind.

Well, the weather looks like winter, now. It snowed a couple of days ago and we got about 5-7 inches of snow. It looks like a winter wonderland outside. I finally put up my Christmas tree today, and it looks so cute! I'm afraid my cat, Blackie, might knock it over one of these days, but, so far he hasn't really noticed its there. I tried to take a picture of it and it doesn't look good on the digital camera. I'll have to play with the adjustments on the camera to see if I can get a better picture.

My hearing aids are working out very well! I am still adjusting to them, but, for the most part, they are great.... I still have to take them out to hear on the phone, as the microphone part of the aid is on the back of the ear, I can't quite hear on the phone with them in. I have the phone volume on high so I can hear.

Well, that's all for now. See ya.

news

This is just some odds-n-ends news.

My hearing aids are working wonderfully! I can't believe I was actually missing so much. I wear them at work and it makes a big difference. I have noticed that I turn the tv down when I think it's too loud. Never happened before...

The SU basketball team is still undefeated. Yay, it's 6-0 right now and we won the last 2 games coming from behind.. The football team, after that come from behind win at ND, lost today to Cincinnati, so we ended the season 3-9, 1-5 in the Big East. Oh, well, there's always next year...

It's starting to warm up alittle, from the 20s and 30s we have been having. It usually averages about 42 at this time. No snow in the last couple of days. We have plenty of time to get it for Christmas. My mother and I went to my sister Betsy's and her husband's Bob for Thanksgiving. It was a very nice visit and the food was great. We had all the usual-turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls. And for desert, Apple and Pumpkin pies. They were really good from the freezer, she said.. Who cares they were pies...

Well, I'm hoping the Giants can keep on the winning track, they go to Washington to play the Redskins tomorrow. They are 10-1.

My Kevin news is that he is making some really interesting movies and I hope to get to see them when they come out. I'm not sure if they are being released in the theater or on dvd. There might be an actor's strike and if that happens he can always go back to modeling like in this picture. He did some before he was given the role of Hercules back in 1994. Oh, my goodness, it's been that long. My how times flies!!!
Well, by for now.

SU WINS AT ND

SU WINS!! SU won at Notre Dame on Saturday, and it was one of the most stunning upsets in a while. We were 20 pt. underdogs, and we won 24-23 on a last minute TD... I hid behind my hands for most of the 4th quarter or I was watching a forensics show on TruTv. I couldn't believe we actually won. It was very gratifying to go there and play the way we did. It was a great game, and I'm happy for the team.

We also got our first big snowfall yesterday and today. In all I think we got about 7-8 inches, and it's been really cold, too. Not any higher than 25-30 out today...

new hearing aids

I got new hearing aids today and they are wonderful! When the audiologist put them in it was like, OMG! I asked her if this was it and she said yes, this is what you've been missing! I have an appointmen in 2 weeks for a fitting test. They are digital and she adjusted them so they are not too loud. I am in the lower quadrant of the hearing test and I needed these, because I was having trouble at work hearing certain sounds. I also wasn't hearing people call my name from a distance and someone else had to tell me they were calling me. I should have been wearing them all along, because, I have been hearing impaired since I was 8-9 years old. I stopped wearing them about 15 years ago because they were giving me headaches from my work environment(ie,machines being too loud). It cost me $3900 for these which I paid for with 43 of my savings bonds and 90 hrs. of vacation I had accumulated from work. I paid $2500 today and will pay the rest in 2 weeks when I go back for my appt. Well, it was something I HAD to do and now that I have, it will be great to be able to hear at work and in general conversations.

When I went to have the hearing test done, the audiologist said to me, you don't speak like you are this hearing impaired, and I told her I had speach lessons when I was in school and had lip reading lessons done. It really helped to be able to lip read when I was speaking directly to someone. She was so surprised that I could lip read that she said I was lucky to have had those lessons all those years ago.

On to other things, it snowed last night! Just a sprinkling but it is the first snow of the season. Also, SU men's basketball started the season on Sunday and they play again tonight. YIPEE! On a rather sad note, SU fired the football coach, Greg Robinson. He will stay til the end of the year, which has 2 games left.

See ya later...

continuation of post

I got cut off! The dvd had some really old pictures on it and it showed alot of the offices the way they were before renovations were done. It was such a suprise to get this. I even ask if we would be able to get ahold of a copy of it and lo and behold we got one in our gift package. We also got a framed certificate of our winning the award.

Now, I'll say goodbye.

See ya..

Happy Veteran's day to all of our veterans...

getting colder

Hello, I just thought I would do some chatting and start with the weather. It is getting colder and feeling like it should. High today was in the low 40's and going down to the 20's tonight. It is supposed to warm up by Friday to be about 55.

My favorite actor Kevin Sorbo is quite the busy fello. He just signed to do a movie called The Illumanati, which is going to be based on a comic that is coming out sometime in the spring. He has several movie going to video and coming out in Dec and Jan. Can't wait to see the one called"Fire From Below" it's supposed be a thriller. He is looking so good lately that it is hard to believe he is 50 yo!! I haven't watched any of his shows lately, with baseball being over I should be able to.
My local college basketball team starts the regular season this weekend. I can't wait to watch it! Maybe the bball team will do better than the fball team did this year. I think that this is Jim Boeheim's 30th year as coach. I might have to go check that out.
Now, for some interesting news. My department at work-HIM- Health Information Management- won a national award last month and we celebrated by having a luncheon and then a "Night on the town" sponsored by the magazine, Advance, which sponsored the contest. It was so cool to be able to have a fun night out with everyone you work with. There are 73 of us, in 4 depts spread over 2 floors in 5 offices. I work in the file room off the main floor where the other 4 offices are. At the dinner we got a copy of the magazine and a dvd of the from beginning to now

Election day

Well, I went and voted. Did You? I won't tell who I voted for, but, I really don't think it matters who wins, because it will be all the same old problems facing whoever wins...

My brother Len, came up from Boston, to visit. He came here alone, even though his wife Mary and my nephew, Steven came up for ?parent's weekend? at Colgate where my nephew Max is going to school. Max is in the band and plays the saxophone. Since Max is a freshman, the university mandates that all freshman HAVE to live on campus, and have to sign-up for trips home. The university pays for the trips and he can sign-up for so many of them. He had his 1st trip home the weekend before last. I think Len said they signed him up for at 3-4 more weekend's and around the spring break.

The weather is really weird this week. It was 67 degrees today, and it's supposed to be in the 60's all week!!

Well, that 's it for now.

Get out there and VOTE!!!!

new printer

I finally hooked up my printer to the computer, after only being in the box for 6 months. I get alittle edgy when it comes to doing things with machines. I take my time and hem and haw about doing it, but, when I want to use it is when I usually put everything else aside and read the instructions and do it! Of, course, all that crap is out the window when you realize it was actually very easy to do!! I had it up and running inside of an hour. And of course, it worked perfectly! I printed a great picture I have of Kevin Sorbo on my pictures and it is gorgeous! What was I so worried about! Now, I can print my kitty pictures and now my Mom can see him...

Fall has come

Fall has come, at last. It is 53 degrees right now. The trees look fantastic! I live in a valley and the hills look great right now. We are in the early part of the change of leaf color. Within the next 3-4 weeks I think the leaves will be all gone. Then it gets the dreary look, the no color look. I didn't have my camera with me today, but maybe some day this week I'll go and take some pictures.

Camello Anthony came home last night as the Denver Nuggets played in the dome and won! It was a homecoming of sorts, since 'Melo hasn't been here for awhile, I guess. He helped SU to win it's 1st and only NCAA basketball championship in 2003. Oh, God, it's been 51/2 yrs. since we won! Hard to believe it's been that long. My sister, Veronica and her son, Robbie, went with some friends of Robbie's to the game and said it was fun.

Well, that's it for now.

Surprise visit

My sister, Ann, and her husband, Tom came up for a visit to see his family in Bridgeport and stopped to see our mother on Monday(10-6). It was great seeing them as we haven't seem them for at least a year. I really can't remember the last time they were up from N. Carolina. They usually get up here at least once a year if they decide to do it on Tom's vacations. Ann doesn't have a job, I don't think?

They have been married for 39 years! They have been in NC for at 12 years and moved there because Tom's job moved there in 1994. He took a job here in NY for 2 years traveling 45 minutes both ways, and then got tired of doing it, so he found out his old job was hiring and they sold their house and moved out.. My brother, Paul moved his family the same time the company left. He has since gotten divorced and remarried this past year.

My sister, Ann, is into crafts and does a mean macrame. She also knits and crochets. She's also into gardening. Me, I like to do counted cross-stitch, and embroidery. My sister, Betsy does crafting also. Likes to work with her hands in her spare time. We all learned how to sew from our mother and learned different ways to do it in school, in Home Ec.

The other picture is of us 4 girls and looks somewhat like a mugshot, one of my sisters said! Oh, well, we took it on my camera and left it the way it was. They are as follows, me, Jeanne, Ann, and Betsy. Youngest to oldest, cool. Hadn't thought of that until just now!!!

Well, that's it for now. See ya soon.

Lunch

I had lunch today with my 3 sisters and my mother, like we do every month. We have been doing lunch once a month for a year now. My mother moved out of her house 3 years ago and I was talking to my sister Veronica and said you know Mom isn't getting any younger and that we should try to see her more often. So, I suggested to the other 2 and my mom if we couldn't get together at least once a month for lunch in a different restruant. So, they all thought it was a great idea, and we have been doing it for a year now.

Today we went to Applebee's and it was very delicious and the waitress was great .. I announced a couple of things. One being that I lost 12 lbs. in the last 2 months. Yay!! It's a big deal to me, because I have a hard time losing weight. I think the blood pressure meds has something to do with it. My 2nd announcement was that my dept. at work won a contest for the BEST Health Information Management dept. (HIM) either in the state or the country. Don't remember which. Will update when I find out... We are going to get some pretty neat stuff to commerate the event. An article in a medical magazine with pictures. We are getting a shirt made with the HIM logo and a night on the town. So, it's pretty cool and can't wait to see the magazine.

Here is a picture of my kitty, Blackie. I think he is going to be a very big cat. He is only 5-6 months old... As you can see, he is all black except on his tummy, he has a little fluff of white there.. I put the heat on and you never saw a cat move so fast! He was gone in a flash. He still doesn't like the sound of my heater, which is pretty loud. It is right in my dining room of my apartment...
Well, that's all for now.
See ya, Gina

p.s. It was nationwide contest! How cool is that!!

Playoffs start without the Yankees

The Yankees didn't make the playoffs this year, for the 1st time since 1995.. It is kind of sad, though, but, the way the season went, it was kind of expected.. I am such a fan of this team, that I can't seem to put my finger on what really went wrong. It was alot of different things, losing your best starting pitcher to not batting well with runners in scoring position. They did have a really hot streak after the All-Star game that I thought everything would be alright. But, then came the inconsistancies again, so it kind of got frustrating to watch them lose again. Oh, well, onto next year in the new Stadium.

Now, I have football to keep me busy. The Giants are off to a 3-0 start and didn't play all that great in their last game but came out with a win. SU finally won a game the week before last, and then lost this past weekend. So, they are 1-3, now.

I finally got my movies of Kevin Sorbo all caught up. I bought Never Cry Werewolf and Something Beneath. Now, if only they would put Last Chance Cafe on Dvd, I would be very happy...

Bye, for now...Virginia

Sept. 11, 2008.

I didn't blog yesterday because it was too hard to. I didn't know anyone who was in any of the planes or in the WCT or, the Pentagon, but it was still hard to forget and watch all the shows on the tv. I did end up watching one on History channel, that I had seen before of course. I thought about it almost all day at work. It is still hard to fathom that it did happen and they are still gone.

R.I.P.

Football season starts!!

I know, baseball isn't over yet, but, football started a couple of weeks ago. It's just a transition between sports. I don't think the Yankees can pull from being so far behind to win the wild card spot. It would appear that they may miss the playoffs for the 1st time since 1995!! That's a long time to play in them and then not be there. Maybe they will win it next year in the new stadium!

My Giants won their opening game of the season at home.. They are building a new stadium for the Giants and the Jets to play in. It is scheduled to open in 2010. It looks huge and they are building it in the parking lot right next door to the Meadowlands Giants Stadium. As you probably know the Giants won the Super Bowl last winter, over the undefeated(at the time) New England Patriots. It was one of the best SB's in history. I heard that Tom Brady, their QB, got hurt on Sunday and will be out the rest of the season. Tough break for them, but, they won with their 2nd string QB. I don't follow them so I don't know his name....The Giants offense did enough to win, but it was the defense that won the game for them by keeping Washington out of the end zone. Final score 16-9.

Well, the weather finally cooled down then went right back up again. Boy, now that it's Sept. you would think it would be cooler.

Sept 11th is this Thursday, and they have been having all the same programs on that they have been showing for the last 6 or 7 years. It still gives me goosebumps to see the planes hit and then to see them fall. If I'm in the right mood when I start to watch those shows I will cry, and do it very, very hard! I still have a flag in my front window and will not take it down until this is resolved. Meaning, that that MAN is either brought to justice or he has a most terrible accident that we have inflicted upon him. I won't even justify putting his name on this blog. I'm assuming you will all know who I mean...
Well, enough for now.
GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!

Watching Andromeda

I just bought the Complete Andromeda Collection and am watching the last 4 shows tonight, of Season 5. I really love the collection as it has all of them in one sleeve. The only drawback is that there are no inserts in each case. The pictures are the same as the other releases, but the pictures on the dvds themselves aren't there either. It is just a deep navy blue background with gold or yellow lettering. All in all I like the convenience of having them all in one place.

The show itself I have always loved and will still continue to watch and follow everything that Kevin is doing with his career. I fell in love with him on Hercules and followed him to Andromeda and beyond... My favorite movies of his so far are Avenging Angel and I really liked the 2 he made of Walking Tall. I thought he did a good job in Meet the Spartans, his deadpan humor was right on!!

harry potter

I just heard that the movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, won't be being released til July 19th of 2009!!! It was supposed to out in theaters on Nov 21st here in the US. I don't know how many people who are not going to be happy about this. I know I'm alittle miffy because I really wanted to see this one in the theater this time. I always seem to miss it, and then I don't see it til it comes out on video. I saw the Goblet of Fire in the the theater.

Oh, well, we'll have to live with it. Sad Day....

new post

I haven't posted for awhile, because I've busy trying to keep up with my baseball team, the Yankees. They haven't played very well lately and lost again today.

I finally got to watch the movie"Meet the Spartans" with Kevin Sorbo. It was funny, in some parts and got kind of gross in some parts. I really laughed out loud at some of the stuff they did. Kevin can sing and dance!! They filmed a s&d at the end of the credits and it was pretty good...

Kevin is in a show on Mon, Aug. 11th on ABC Family called "The Middleman". I've never really sat and watched it, but I will Mon. just to see him. I will say that he looks good in the suits I've seen in pictures on the internet of him from this show.

I finally got into the 21st century as far as electronics go. I bought an IPod Shuffle. Now, if only I knew how to download songs onto it. I signed up for Itunes, but the don't have any original or hardly any Beatles songs. They have people covering Beatle songs and I don't want that. I want originals!! I tried burning cds onto Itunes, which I did ok, but can't figure out how to get them onto the shuffle. Maybe later.

My mom is now officially 85 yo! She was born 8-8-23. So, it was kind of cool to celebrate it on 8-8-08!! She is doing quite well.

Well, more later...Gina

all-star game

WOW, the All-star game at Yankee Stadium, went 15 innings and lasted 4hr50mins... I had to go to bed after the 10th inning.(11:30pm). It was scoreless for awhile and then the AL scored 1st and then the NL went ahead and we scored to tie and that's how it stayed until the AL won it. The 3 Yankee players that went didn't do so hot. But, Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 1 1/2 innings and helped keep it like that for all of the extra innings. Now, the AL has the home-field advantage for the World Series.

The best part of it all was the pre-game ceremonies when all of the Hall of Famers came out and were introduced. It was the biggest congregation of HoF outside of Cooperstown. It was cool!!!

Sad day for Yankee fans

A long-time Yankee player and announcer died today by the name of Bobby Murcer. He was a very well loved player and an ever greater person. He suffered a brain tumor in Dec of 2006. In fact, the day before Christmas, he found out. He had an operation 6 days later and spent the next 6 mos getting treated for it so he could come back to the Yankee booth, which he did in late May in Texas. He looked good. He so wanted to make to Yankee stadium for opening day, but just couldn't make it. He had been in and out of the booth since then, as he worked around his treatments. The Yankees had just beaten Toronto and were in the post-game when it was announced that he had died.

The Yankees host the All-Star game on Tuesday, and I'm sure there will be a tribute to him. He was a 5-time All-Star.

I grew up listening to him on the tv with all of the announcers he was with. I really liked to hear his voice, it was so mellow and so Oklahoman. I hate to say this, but I cried like a baby when I heard of his death. I am still a little in shock and very saddened by his passing.

Rest in peace, Mr. Murcer. You will be missed...

yankee game

I went to see the Yankees play at Yankee stadium on Wednesday and it was great!!! We won in extra innings, 2-1 and it was a very well played game. The new stadium that they are building is huge!! We went by it to get to the parking lot about 10 blocks from the stadium. Even though it was 10 blocks, they are short in NY as opposed to the avenues which are really long. When we left the ballpark to come home, it had started to sprinkle and by the time we got on the bus, it was raining pretty hard. After about 10 minutes on the bus, it was like someone had turned on the water faucet full blast. It thundered and lightninged for a few minutes, and downpoured. I was up at 5o'clock am and didn't get home till 11:30pm. Long day!!

ny trip

Well, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!! The weather was great for our picnic, and the food was just as great!!!

I am going to NY to see the Yankees play tomorrow at 6o'clock in the morning by bus!!! I hope it doesn't rain. I can't wait, because this is the last year for this stadium, and every game is memory for the fans. I went to a game about 3 years ago and we won. Jason Giambi hit 2 homeruns. Well, more on this when I get back home.

See ya.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just loved this picture that I had to post it. It is so perfect, showing our patriotism and fun. I am going to my sister Jeanne's for a picnic with the rest of my family, on Friday. I just hope it doesn't rain and spoil it. It's great that it is a 3 day weekend...

new kitty

My new kitty is doing quite well. Still as frisky as ever, and scratching me up as well. He is so cute and so little. I can't wait to get a digital camera so I can take pictures and post them. It's going to be awhile before I can get one. I was hoping to get one before I went to NY to see the Yankees play, but, it wasn't meant to be. Yes, I am going to see them play one last time in the old stadium. I think I mentioned this in a previous blog. Oh, well, here it is again. HAHA. I am going to see them play the Tampa Bay Rays. I am just going to miss them playing the Redsox over the weekend. I don't think there are really any tickets left for those games next Fri. Sat, and Sun. They seem to sell out all the time!!

I have ordered the Kevin Sorbo movies of Prairie Fever and Meet the Spartans. Just have to pay for them through Amazon and I will get them in a few weeks. He is so busy lately, he is doing tv shows at the moment. Middleman and Fear, inc? I don't watch either one of them and i should start just to get myself better aquainted with them. I think these 2 shows are summer shows, waiting for the new seasons to start in Sept.

It has been raining and thundering alot lately and I just hope it holds off for the 4th of July picnic on Friday. Very muggy, too. I can't sleep very well when it gets this muggy, and there is no breeze. Well, at least, the fans are working!

Early 4th of July

I know it's 2 weeks early, but I got this great picture about the 4th of July, that I had to post it...
Isn't it great!!!

That flag really does sparkle!! It was waving in the original e-mail...

I so love this country, that I wouldn't live anywhere else. Yes, we have big problems, but, we always seem to come out on top. Since 9-11, I have had flags in my windows and in my apartment, and I will not take them down, ever!!! Now, I didn't know anyone who died in the Twin Towers, but, you don't have to, to feel angry. I still get teary-eyed when I see shows about the attacks.

Well, enough of that.

Celtics win!!!

I have been a fan of the Boston Celtics since I was in my teens. I have been following them this season, like I have since then. I don't watch every game, because I don't get them on cable. But, my point is that I am a fan and they finally won the NBA championship for the 1st time since 1986!! They dominated the LA Lakers badly. They now have 17 championships, the most every by one team in the NBA. The Celtics are like the Yankees, in the sense that they dominate their sport. It's just that it took them so long to win it again. The Yankees went from 1978 to 1996 without winning a World Series. That was the longest winless streak by the Yankees in their history. Now, if only the Bruins would win a Stanley Cup. It's been since the 70's since they won one.

The weather has finally cooled off, but, I don't think it will be too long before it heats back up again. It's been raining off and on, so everything is really green....

Now, for some fun news, my sister, Veronica, gave me a black kitten last Saturday. He is 7 weeks old and I have named him Blackie. I call him Pookie too. He is adorable and has literaly scratched me to pieces. But, I still love him.. When I get a digital camera, soon, I will post pictures of him.

very hot

It has been very hot lately, and even the thunderstorms aren't helping. I called my mother to see how she was doing in the heat, and she said she didn't have to leave her building today, which was a good thing because it got to 90 today... She plays cards with several other people in her building and she stays sharp that way.

I bought the dvd of the Super Bowl XLII, between the Giants and Patriots. It was so good to see that game again! It was just as nerveracking as the 1st time! The fact that my lowly Giant team could beat the mighty Patriots, who were going for an unbeaten record, was phenomenal!!! I am so proud of the way they played all through the playoffs. Now, let's see if they can do it again!

The Yankees are starting to play much better, as they won again tonight after they won yesterday, too. I hope they can keep it going up to the All-Star game which is at Yankee Stadium this year!!! It's the last year for the old building which was built in 1923, the same year my mother was born!! They are building a new one just over the left field fence. You can see it from the stands of the old one. I am going to a game in July and I can't wait. It's been 2 years since I was there last. The picture is of the new one. It will open for opening day of 2009...

SU WINS 13-10!!!

SU won the men's lacrosse NCAA Championship!! It was such a great game, we came from behind twice in the game and then scored 2 late goals to win... That was SU's 10th one and that is the most wins by any one school!!
Now, to more mundane things, Kevin Sorbo's new movies are coming out this week. Have to go buy them sometime and enjoy them with my collection of his movies.
My nephew, Max, in Boston, graduated from high school last weekend and they are having a party this weekend. My sisters, Jeanne and Veronica's family is going with her. I couldn't get the money together for a trip down. I hope they have great weather for it..
My Mom is still at it. She and I get together at once or twice a week just to talk and go out to eat. She loves where she is living, and it suits her. She gets to play cards every day with some of the people she knows there. She is 85 years old this year. God bless her...
My work is a little screwy at the moment, because we are training a new girl and everything is kind of backed up a little. I am doing the best I can, what with people needing help finding things and having to help pull charts for studies that don't get done. Just a normal day in the life of a Medical record clerk....
Well, have a good evening and go Yanks!!!

missed 3 mos.

I missed 3 mos. of blogging because my computer broke. In the meantime, the Giants won!!! YAY!!!!!!!! They came back to win and it was beautiful...Kevin has been in a couple of movies and they have been ok. One of them was in the theater and the other one called Never Cry Werewolf, was on SciF. This one I didn't get to see all of, because I had gotten my new computer and was playing with it and forgot all about the movie.

It is getting warmer now and the Memorial Day weekend is here, so that means the NCAA Lacrosse final four is being played this weekend. SU played Virginia in one semi-final and won a thriller in 2OT, 12-11!!!!!!!!!!! It was very exciting in the second half, but SU didn't seem to be all together in the 1st half. They were down 6-3 at the half. Got down 9-4 and 10-6, before they made their comeback and go into OT. Waiting to see who they play, either Duke or Johns Hopkins. Well, having a picnic with the family on Sunday. Hope it's nice out.

Can't wait for Super Bowl Sunday

I can't wait for this Sunday, besides, being the Super Bowl, my sister's and I are going to Applebee's for lunch with our mother. It is our monthly luncheon with my mother. My mother is 83 yo. and my sisters and I felt that we needed to see her more than just picnics and holidays, so we pick a place to eat on a Sunday, and have a good time! We alternate where we go, so we don't go to the same place every month.

Can't wait for the game, either. I am starting to get nervous. I really think the Giants have a chance to win. We have been playing very well lately, and I think Eli Manning is just about ready to show the football world he can win the big one. All my fingers and toes will be crossed come Sunday.

Kevin Sorbo's movie, Meet the Spartans, opened Fri., and did really good. It beat out Rambo for the most money over the 3 day period of the weekend. I have heard some reviews go both ways, for this movie. Some are bad and some are good. Most of the good ones have to do with Kevin's part. The bad is that the humor stinks!! I might or might not go see it this weekend. If I don't get to go, I'll probably buy it on dvd, like I do all of his other movies. My favorite of his recent movies is a tv movie called Last Chance Cafe, from Lifetime.

Well, 2 months til baseball season starts. YAY!!!!!!

See ya later.

GIANTS WIN!!!!

THE NEW YORK GIANTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!
They beat the Green Bay Packers 23-20 in overtime. It was a great game and very nerve wracking to watch. Especially the last 5 minutes and the overtime period. They are going to be playing the New England Patriots, in Arizona, I believe. I'm not sure where the SB is this year.

I watched some movies today leading upto the game and I missed the first quarter because of the movie I was watching. It was called The Transformers, and I found it to be very exciting to watch. The fx was great and the vehicles were utterly fantastic. I also watched Kevin Sorbo in a movie on SciFi channel called "Something Beneath". I found it really entertaining and somewhat spooky, with the slime theme in it.

SU didn't do too well, yesterday. They lost by 10 to Villanova, and have to play away at Georgetown on Monday night. Oh, well, it's never easy.

Bye for now.

my first blog

Hi, this is my first post!!! I am a big fan of Science fiction, romance, and crime procedural books, movies and tv shows. I also like sports: College basketball and football, pro football, and baseball especially. I will go into my favorite teams later, but, my all-time favorite team is the New York Yankees. I live for baseball!!!

I am a big fan of Kevin Sorbo, Matthew McConaughy, Brad Pitt, Sean Connery, Robert Redford, Johnny Depp, and Orlando Bloom, and alot of the old time movie stars of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. To me some of the old time stars could run rings around what is out there today, when it comes to talent and just plain old ACTING!!! Now, when it comes to female actors, I don't really have any favorites of today's crop, except for maybe Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

I welcome constructive criticsisms? of just about anything if it makes sense.

This blog is going to be mostly about my interest, and maybe about family issues. But, I don't plan to use it to sound off about my family or work.

So, please, come on in and let's see what goes. OK??
